Copper Boom!

Yes, it is true, I am back.

This summer got particularly crazy including a nannying job, summer camp, my boyfriend being in town for a whole month, the wedding of two of my favorite people and oldest friends, attending an Owl City concert, taking my first trip to New York, and spending as much time with my favorite people as possible.

As you can imagine, this left very little time for me to be creative with this blog.

But, now here I am on the first night of my college life, trying to figure out what I think about this whole thing. I absolutely love my room. And my roommate is cute, and I have made several new friends and hooked up with several old friends. Move in day was a blast simply because my family made it so. In addition to my family helping me, my three oldest best friends, Lauren, Amy, and Sam, were there to assist in the effort to shove everything in my tiny room.

Following in the steps of the Gilmore's, I got a mini fridge for late night snacks, a rug to make my room cozy, did the going-to-college walk, said Copper Boom! and *almost* aired out my mattress. I did in spirit.

So, here goes nothing. It's Lorelai(in training)'s first day at Yale! Err, UNT! :)

The Cleanse.

I know I said I would post the next day, but I didn't. I was too busy and I didn't get anywhere on my closet so oh well. :P

This week I started a cleanse that lasts for 21 days.
The Rules: You can only eat fruits, vegetables, brown and wild rice, and sweet potatoes. You're allowed to cook them any way you want and use any spices you want, but only a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Then on the 11th day you add in chicken and fish.
The Goal: To live a healthier life and lose a couple pounds. ;)

Day 1 wasn't that hard. I had a headache most of the day though because I'm just not used to not eating carbs and getting sugar, but it was kind of exciting. Like yay! A new challenge! My family did have spaghetti, one of my favorite foods, and I desperately wanted some, but I resisted.
Day 2 was a little more difficult. I didn't feel well most of the day due to the headache and I was always hungry and a little tired. Plus I was gone a lot and was driving past restaurants. Everything I saw looked good. My class went to eat at Chick Fil A after a field trip and the chicken smelled soooooooo good. Luckily my best friend is doing the cleanse with me and is in that same class, so we were able to help each other stay strong. My family had BLT's, the good kind with incredible thick, peppered bacon and avocados, but thank goodness I wasn't around for that temptation as my other best friend and I went to see Memphis, last year's Best Musical. (It was pretty good by the way!)
Day 3 so far has been wayyy easier. I don't have a headache (well it's barely there anyways) and I'm not near as hungry as I have been. Plus, I've figured out a couple recipes that are fairly simple to make with the ingredients I'm allowed that I really like. Kale chips, brown rice with sauteed onions and mushrooms and balsamic vinegar, and sweet potato fries. I really love sweet potato fries.

Today also consisted of going to a dentist consultation about getting my wisdom teeth out. Eww. But, they have to come out or my teeth will get crooked. And on the bright side, I only have three so there'll be 1/4 less pain. :)

At the moment I'm trying to be more like the younger Lorelai, Ms Rory Gilmore, and study hard and get done with school. 6 days! 6 days and I'll be done with high school. :) I slightly wish I went to a large scary private school with lots of wooden things so I could attempt to carve my initials in one of them but then decide against it because everything is historical.

My Closet.

I have a bad habit of starting huge cleaning projects at 11 o'clock at night.  This is one of those nights. Several things have to happen for me to want to clean up at night. 1) I'm usually a little upset about something. Never anything major, but enough to make me frustrated or something. 2) My room has to be a wreck. Cause then I get fed up with it and want to pull a Lorelai and throw everything on my bed to clean up my floor. (But there's a problem in doing that. You can't sleep on your bed when you have a ton of stuff on it. They never explain how they get around that in Gilmore Girls.) Both of those things are rather mandatory for late night cleaning sessions. Tonight there was another factor, I got a new bookshelf to keep all of my extra books on. Score. :) So being that I got a new bookshelf, I have to rearrange my room and in order to do that I have to make sure my room is clean. I still need to vacuum it but I don't think my sleeping family will appreciate that. ;)

There is one part of my room that isn't quite clean yet. It's much too large to tackle tonight.

My closet.

My closet is rather full right now. In fact, the left door won't close. There is too much stuff in it.

My closet isn't really that big to begin with. And I have some pretty big items in it currently. I have three prom dresses, a costume for theatre, and my grandmother's wedding dress. In addition to the multiple articles of clothing I already have. I always tell myself that I am going to clean my closet out and get rid of a lot of clothes. And I do. But it seems to me that clothes must multiply. Because it always seems as if there are just as many clothes in my closet after I clean it out as before I have cleaned it out. This baffles me.

The range of crazy things that are in my closet astonish me. I have books ranging from Jane Austen to Julie Andrews and my worldview books as well as sign language for children books. I have my twenty-something pairs of shoes both on the floor of my closet and hanging on my door. I have all of my dresses, only three or four I actually wear, my four or five different coats, my eleven or so hoodies hanging on the other door, my extra purses, my shirts, and jeans, and skirts, and slacks, and etc. And are anything of the things in that closet dispensable? You would think so, but no!

Girls. We have too much stuff.

I shall put up an update tomorrow on the progress made. Goodnight y'all!

Starting Out.

This is my first blog post, so don't be expecting anything incredible. This is just me.
I'm only starting this blog because I need something more than just a journal to motivate me to write my thoughts down, so I thought maybe a blog would help with that. We'll see if it's any good.

The title of my blog comes from my favorite TV Show, Gilmore Girls. The main characters are Lorelai and her daughter Rory, and they are some of my idols. Especially Lorelai. She always has an answer for everything and just lives life the fun way, doing what she loves and loving the people in her life. Not to mention she makes some hilarious references to pop culture.

I really started this blog today cause I wanted to tell someone about my day. (The advantage of blogging is you don't have to feel like you're annoying anyone or making them feel obligated to listen to you.)
Today I had my Spanish 2 class at the community college and then had Fiddler on the Roof rehearsal tonight. In between those two things, I went shopping.

There are three things that have been added to my closet because of that shopping trip. One- A Gap yellow trench coat. It is a dream of mine to own a trench coat in every color except for orange. I hate orange. I already own pink and red trench coats so the yellow makes a nice addition to the collection. Two- A Forever 21 strapless silk dress. It's an ivory color with black and gray roses on it with some beading on the bodice. I love it. Three- Just a pink shirt to wear in the Easter choir. You can never have to many pink shirts.

Rehearsal was great because we finally got our costumes tonight. I play the character Hodel (for those of you Broadway-ignorant people, she's a main character) and so I got one of the nicer costumes. Two of my life long best friends are in the show with me and play my sisters so it was exciting to get all dressed up and twirl around in our big skirts. I think every girl wanted skirts like ours at some point or another.

That's about it for today. If I think of anything really deep to share with you all, I can always post it later.
